The windkat system
The aerodynamic chimney cap

Solves all fire-place and chimney problems -
Lowers the heating costs at about 5 - 20 percent !!!
Reached by the economic flow in the chimney Can be used at the most difficult wind and weather conditions: tested, proved and in its effect confirmed.
Recommended by the chimney sweep!!

The WINDKAT – functional and design
Where the chimney stops - the WINDKAT begins
> low exhaust gas temperatures – at high CO2 rates – demand optimal chimney operating conditions
> For the burn of a litre fuel oil approx. 13,000 litres of air are needed. These masses of gas need a frictionless trafficway, which ensures a congestion-free delivery and rebuff. The streambehaviour in the chimney mustn’t be influenced by coincidence of wind and weather.
> The fireplace-effect of chimneys sucks the exhaust gases from the combustion-chamber and transports it up to the chimney-orifice. At the gas-emission the unsettled weather can appeal like a cap. i.e. instead of having the desired fireplace-effect, there can be a over-pressure. And this overpressure causes congestion, combustion will be unclean and dangerous CO and CO2 gasses can enter your housing spaces.
> The windcatalyst sits in between these critical zones. Different wind directions + other weather-related vexations have no impact in its functionality. The sophisticated affixed nozzles always produce a negative pressure and solve possible congestion, before they occur.
Detailed information about the windcatalyst
> The windkat does not require ANY permission. We fulfilled the requirements of FeuVO and the DIN standard 18160 at its construction. The Windkat is available with highgrade steel (V4A, DIN 1.4571) and highgrad powdercoated steel, and in all RAL colors. Thus it is guarenteed stainless and resistant against wind and weather

The dust cover of the WINDKAT, prevents the intrusion of drop- and percussion hoists and protects the fireplace against weather influences.

According to the chimney-height, the extension of the fluegaspipe with mounting-plate can be assigned to the DIN EURO NORM EN 13 384-1.

The jet arrangement around the interior pipe, prevents turbulences of flue gases with fresh air and at the same time provides consistent, increased draft in the fireplace.
(constant negative pressure conditions)

The WINDKAT is tested, proved and in its effect confirmed:
TÜV, national institute for environment of Thueringen, TU Munich, Bay. national office for environmental protection (LfU), Martin Luther university Halle/TU Dresden.

The use of chimney caps - like the WINDKAT - is regulated in the German Norm
DIN 18 160-1 (12/2001)
domestic chimneys
requirement, planning and execution
edition February 1987
> chapter 10.6: chimney caps, including nozzles
Chimney caps can consist of burned clay, stoneware, normal concrete, steel sheet or cast iron. Caps for chimneys with limited temperature consistency or for steel chimneys for decreased requirements, can also consist of fibrated concrete.
> also the new DIN EURO STANDARD EN 13-384-1 was conscientiously considered with the development of the WINDKAT system.
> the WINDKAT is made of stainless high-grade steel and corresponds therefore to this Norm (DIN 1.4571)
> DIN 1860 chapter 6, as well as the international FeuVo demands, that chimney caps may not have mobile parts, excluding those for cleaning.
> The WINDKAT does not have mobile parts, and therefore corresponds to the international standards.
> The WINDKAT is regarded not as new building material, design or construction unit in the sense of the building law and requires therefore no building supervision.
